The danger of Modern Day design and loss of city identity
Bucharest is renowned for its late 19th century-inspired Parisian-style buildings, which are incredibly beautiful (although sadly not taken care of by the council). At the same time, new, almost detailless buildings rise up in a competition, almost screaming “look at me, look at me, I am prettier”!
And this made me think! It made me think about how much details matter, not only on the outside (exterior) but also on the inside of a building or a home (the interior). I know I say this a lot but details matter so so much when it comes to creating the “personality” of a space/home.
Why interior design is so important in our daily lives
Here is the thing. Not waking up in a space that you simply adore, adds stress to your life, on a subconscious level. It might not feel like it but interior design influences how your day actually goes.
You won’t necessarily be aware of it, but deep down, it can affect your well-being, making you feel off, getting frustrated or annoyed quicker and honestly sucking the joy out of the things you enjoy most, like having a cup of coffee in the morning (speaking from experience here).
How Detail Movement came to life - the story
I can still remember the moment when I realised my life had to change. I was on a bus, coming home from work, miserably unhappy with my job (hello economic crisis of 2007 that hit my country, Romania in 2013), but somehow, happily chasing the sun setting & peaking through the buildings passing me by.
2022 Interior Design Trends You Should Know About
I might get some backlash for writing this but, did anybody else notice that as soon as the 2nd of January hit, almost all the interior design accounts on Instagram launched into projects like changing the bedroom look, uplifting the living room, x, y, z trend predictions, colour predictions, ad collaborations, etc. I really felt annoyed by this because it perpetuates this idea of buying stuff you don't always or really need so that you can feel "better in your home". So I had to say something about this trend of creating interior design trends.
I was so sure I knew who I wanted to help
I was so sure I knew who I wanted to help. When I started all of this, I was so sure I knew who I wanted to help. I wanted to help everybody have better homes. That was my dream - just make better homes. While it was an honourable dream, I quickly realised it wasn’t a very sustainable one.
Why I gave up Architecture for Interior Design
Architecture was a dream I did not know I had. I loved every minute of it, and the lessons I've learned, I'll take with me for the rest of my life. But...
